Apron re-do

I wasn't totally happy with how yesterday's apron turned out, so I decided to redo it--and am much happier today!!!

Win a Free Ergo Baby Carrier from Along for the Ride

Gifts

A few things I've made over the last couple of days:

A gift for my friends baby (he's not here yet--but very soon!!)

(Hopefully she likes cowboys! LOL!)

Two bibs, cotton woven on one side, and backed w/ terry. Love this print!!!

And a picture frame I "made." This was so easy! I got the frame and the cowboy wooden parts at Hobby Lobby--the cowboy pieces were already painted, so all I did was stain the frame, paint on "Lil' cowpoke" and glue on the cowboy pieces! Easy peasy, but it looks so cute!

Next project was an apron for a swap I'm in right now. I had originally wanted to do this pattern, but once I got it, it looked harder than I imagined, and I was running short on time, so instead I opted for this tutorial. I left of the pocket, b/c I didn't like it--I actually ripped off the pocket--I had sewn in on, and it was too much...and I'm not 100% satisfied with the results, but it's still cute, and wearable! If I did it again, there are a few things I would change..but that's another post! Anyways, some pics: (it's reversible too! oooo!)
And some snappy towels to match!

Another one!

I'm loving making T-shirts!!! I think I've found a new addiction! Friday we got PUMMELED with snow--at least 18 inches, with drifts up to 2-3 feet. Crazy snow, like nothing I've ever seen before! But Saturday, I begged hubby to take me to Sioux Falls to go fabric shopping. The interstate opened back up (it shut down the night before b/c of the snow!) around 12:00 noon--and we were on our way!!!! That's how much I NEEDED some solid colored knits!! We made is safe and sound, and I did quite the damage on the old checkbook. Not having any fabric stores local, I have to stock up when I get the chance! I got some great stuff though--some of the new Amy Butler line, a few new things from Moda, some knits, a few other various wovens, thread, and even a couple patterns! All in all a great day for me!!! LOL! I know have lots of new knit combos to make some more summer Tee's for the kids! Yea!!!

I made a T-shirt!!

Sounds simple huh? But I've been afraid of it for a while now. Something about knits, and binding, just gave me the willies! But I tackled my fear, and did it--and it was EASY!! And the results are so cute!!!
And some modeling shots from today:
Her face in this one is priceless!

And some pics of a dress I made for Kenna--this was for her cousin's b-day party this weekend. I also made one for Ashlee, but haven't gotten any pics of her in it yet!

It's raining out, and she's been staring out the window all day! It's so cute!

Happy Earth Day!!

One of the things that I do to try and help our beautiful planet, is cloth diaper. I love cloth diapering--they are cute, they save me money, and they help our planet. Something like 18 billion disposable diapers go into a landfill each year--and each one takes around 500 years to decompose...that's a lot of stinky diapers sitting around for a very long time!
Anyways, of course, if you know me by now, you know that I make my own diapers! One of my online friends asked me to make her some diapers as well, and I just packed them up today for her! I couldn't resist taking a pic of them all together though first!

Here they are! 10 pocket diapers, using the Very Baby AIO pattern. All with aplix closures, PUL outers, and suedecloth inners. PUL colors are Candy Pink (top left), Raspberry Pink (top right), Ocean Blue (bottom left), and Pale Pink, and Butter Yellow (bottom right).

A dress for Kenna and teensy doll for me!

I've been sewing like mad this week--but it's super secret stuff I can't share (yet!)!! So, today, I finally did something share-worthy! A dress I'm calling "Fruit Salad" for Kenna, and a little Steiner doll for me! I loosely followed this tut for the doll. All in all it probably took me an hour--and that was while watching a movie last night. The dress pattern I have no clue! I had it cut out for a month or so now, and couldn't remember which pattern I used, so I just sewed it up the way I thought it should go! And it seemed to work!! I think this is my favorite dress that I have made to date for Kenna--I just wish I had bought more material to make a top for Ashlee! I have just enough that I might be able to make a little matching purse for Kenna to go with it though.

Toddler Purse

I am so in love with this!! A friend of mine on my march mommies board asked me to make a purse for her daughter. Apparently her little girl had one that she really liked, but it came back positve for lead!!
I thought it was a great idea for a little cloth purse, and set out on a mission! I made a "tester" first, and of course, Kenna got to keep that one! I'm so tickled with how this turned out!!

This is a picture of the final set. The complete set includes: purse, compact, checkbook-with checks!, money, tissue, and a baby doll diaper!
