Teething Bisquits

I made McKenna some teething cookies this morning, and thought I would share the recipe.

Baby Cereal Cookies
2 T. Shortening
1/2 C. Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. water
1 1/2 c. Baby cereal (I used oatmeal)
Heat oven to 300 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and water. Mix until well blended. Gradually stir in cereal. Knead until smooth. Pat into rectangle. Cut into 12 1" bars. smooth edges so they will not be sharp. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 20-30 min. or until dry. Store in UNCOVERED container overnight. **freezes well**

  1. She LOVES them!!! I mean LOVES them!!!!!! It was a good hour of entertainment for her!! I gave her one, did the dishes, swept up the kitchen, cleaned up the entry way, and made lunch--all while she was happy!!! Yay! I tried one--they're pretty blah if you ask me--but, I guess for a 7 month old, it's a different story! haha!
